Chuna Therapy
A traditional manual therapy that works along the meridians and acupoints to look at the body's balance

Details
Chuna is an old manual therapy that began in the simple act of touching and stroking the body with the hands. It starts from an instinctive gesture, the hand going by itself to the sore spot after a fall or a parent rubbing the belly of a child with a stomach ache, and settled into a system of its own by way of traditional records such as Doin-angyo and the meridian and acupoint perspectives of the old medical texts.
Where chiropractic in the West has handled the body through the lens of anatomy, Chuna in the East developed by locating acupoints and bringing the hands to points along the muscles and nerves. Chuna at Dongbang JC Clinic follows this traditional approach, looking at the balance of the whole body with the spine at its center and aiming to loosen the areas that have stiffened.
Chuna in this form takes a long time to learn properly. At Dongbang JC Clinic, even after three years of training, the sensitivity of the hands is practiced daily, and sessions proceed on the foundation of the meridians and acupoints. The principle is to work by reading each person's condition through the fingertips rather than to favor convenience.
As the years pass, everyone's frame shifts a little and tension gathers in the body. Chuna therapy attends to this everyday tension and stiffness on a regular basis, helping the body be kept comfortable; the approach and the number of sessions are decided after a consultation, according to each person's constitution and condition.
